In this draft, the scene at the Alberta Legislature comments directly on the nature of art and the preservation of knowledge. P. Cockburn's sculpture is conflated with Demeter's role as archivist, both dedicated to the task of "preserving [a] likeness." Finally, Demeter admits directly to his role in "shaping the scene." His comments are repositioned and contracted in the published text.
