This 1971 Turkish newspaper clipping is found in the draft folder of Kroetsch's The Ledger. The newspaper states, "ne sağcı ne solcu", which roughly translates into "what rightest nor leftest". This potentially influenced the theme of balance within The Ledger. Kroetsch's reason for writing "VERDAMMT", which translates into "damn", on the clippping is ambiguous and also open to further interpretation.
